Micro-credential

What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential is a certificate you obtain through a mini programme. These are short courses focused on a theme tailored to the needs of the field. You can choose from numerous micro-credentials with diverse themes, from architecture to politics and from heritage to data analysis.

Mini programme

Micro-credentials consist of one or several courses, sometimes supplemented by additional learning content. The scope is expressed in ECTS credits or study credits and varies between 3 and 19 credits. These are part-time, short learning packages (of one or two semesters) that you can easily combine with a job. Some micro-credentials support this combination in particular through their flexible format (evening classes, online, hybrid or distance learning).

Tailored to the needs of the professional field

Interdisciplinarity and cooperation with the professional field are paramount in the development of new micro-credentials. The design of the courses is founded on research into the needs of the relevant professional sectors, sometimes in cooperation with educational institutions and other partner organisations.

Certificate with European recognition

The learning outcomes are evaluated using transparent standards. If you successfully complete a micro-credential, you will receive a certificate according to a European recognised standard. You can combine some micro-credentials with broader credentials or qualifications.
