This summer I had the opportunity to participate in an inspiring IGU Thematic Conference in Mexico City. I presented my research and work on ethnic entrepreneurship in Flanders in the beautiful setting of UNAM. It was a pleasure to witness individuals from all around the world come together to exchange ideas and learn from each other's experiences on urban transformations and resilient cities. My presentation emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship and how it can contribute to economic growth and social development. I look forward to continuing the dialogue and working towards an inclusive and vibrant entrepreneurial landscape. I would like to extend my gratitude towards my supervisors Prof. Joris Beckers and Prof. Ann VERHETSEL (University of Antwerp - Faculty of Business and Economics - Department of Transport and Regional Economics TPR) for this opportunity. I would also like to thank the INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHICAL UNION for organizing a wonderful week. #EthnicEntrepreneurship #Conference #Urbanstudies #phdjourney

💡 Exchanging #ideas and discussing strategies on how to maximize the impact of #entrepreneurship #data and #research for the pillars of the entrepreneurial ecosystems of our respective regions -- that's the leverage that the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor brings to the table for the Institut de recherche sur les PME and the UQTR - Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières 📊 📈 Did you know that #Austria and the province of #Québec have a lot in common? In 2022, the population au Austria was estimated at 8 979 894 and the population of Quebec at 8 613 999. Further, both face an rapidly ageing population that puts pressure on regional entrepreneurship ecosystems (9 regions in Austria, 15 in Quebec). Exciting and stimulating discussions with Christian Friedl and Rene Wenzel of GEM Team Austria at FH Joanneum about GEM data and research opportunities 👨🏫 and with Doris Kiendl 👩🏫 and Bojan Jovanovski 👨🏫 of FH JOANNEUM - International Management about international project collaborations and the prospects of student international exchanges. We should definitely do more of these GEM National team exchanges between 🇦🇹 and 🇨🇦Peter. Great insights about sampling and reporting strategies.

Here's a new paper in the Journal of World Business. It's my first international entrepreneurship piece from a #recruitment perspective and using #conjoint analysis. Many thanks to Phillip Volkmer and Matthias Baum from the Institut für Entrepreneurship & Innovation (IEI) der Uni Bayreuth! If you are interested...we examine how the proactive internationalization of new ventures might influence job seeker perceptions of organizational attractiveness. Using signalling theory and person-environment fit theory to develop our hypotheses, we employ a metric conjoint experiment with 209 job seekers (making 3344 decisions). Our multilevel regression results suggest that the strategy of proactive internationalization presents an ambivalent recruiting signal to job seekers. However, this effect is positively moderated by job seekers’ personal initiative and international experience. We offer implications for signalling theory in international entrepreneurship, and practical implications for staffing international new ventures. ᴅᴏ ʟᴀᴛɪɴ-ᴀᴍᴇʀɪᴄᴀɴ ꜱᴛᴜᴅᴇɴᴛꜱ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴇɴᴛʀᴇᴩʀᴇɴᴇᴜʀꜱ? I’m part of a research network that collected data from 1,456 Latin American students from seven countries to identify how personal characteristics, university support and institutional environment influence their entrepreneurial intention. The results show there are significant differences among Latin American students. They have different opinions regarding the value of entrepreneurship and how the institutional environment constrains their actions. Peruvian students have the highest entrepreneurial intention among the sample, followed by students from Ecuador and Colombia. University support and institutional environment still represent challenges to fostering entrepreneurship in Latin America. The results offer relevant insights for universities, policy-makers and organizations that support entrepreneurship in Latin America, such as SEBRAE in Brazil. Check the full report on this link: https://lnkd.in/dCZFyveZ I want to thank the team of researchers involved in this project: Prof. Douglas Wegner (FDC) - Brazil Prof. Milton Sousa (Unifor) - Brazil Prof. Byron Acosta (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador) - Ecuador Prof. Silvia Teresa Morales Gualdrón (Universidad de Antioquia) - Colombia Prof. Elizabeth Emperatriz García-Salirrosas (Universidad Nacional Tecnológica de Lima Sur) - Peru Prof. Camilo Peña Ramírez (Universidad de Playa Ancha) - Chile Prof. liliana scoponi (Universidad Nacional del Sur) - Argentina Prof. Edgar Sanchez (Universidad Nacional de Assunción) - Paraguay My special thank to Prof. Dr. Michael Mustafa (Malaysia), that inspired this survey and helps us advance the research on entrepreneurship in Latam. #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurshipeducation #latinoamerica

European Business Summit 2023 #Talent #Ukraine #Economics #COP28 #AI Here are the topics currently being discussed throughout Europe, and to a certain extent, we are all concerned by them. Over the past two days, I had the opportunity to participate in the European Business Summit 2023 #EBS2023, representing Junior Enterprises Europe with Leo Largillet, Giorgia Calvaresi, and Frederike Kopp, as well as European representatives such as Tomás Silva from Junior Enterprises Portugal, Christopher Beerling from BDSU e.V., Christoph Ernst from JCNetwork, Jesper Vis from UniPartners Nederland, Lennart Jordan from Junior Enterprises Austria, Roberta Ioffredo and some managers on our team, Benjamin Gulyas, Rabab Khatib, Fernanda Bicalho. Having the opportunity through all these exchanges to be part of the discussions and understanding how they are addressing these problems and challenges was definitely food for thought. It was also the occasion to network… Worldwide companies such, European institutions, representatives from every field and domain were reunited, giving me and us the opportunity to share with them what Junior Enterprises are and who Junior Entrepreneurs are. #EuropeanBusinessSummit #WeAreJuniorEntrepreneurs #JEE #JEEurope #JEETeam #EuropeanNetwork #StudentEntrepreneurship #EuropeanInnovation #JuniorEnterprises
